Derek Birch came to Guernsey in 1964 to work as an engraver, and he opened the business that same year. Originally Derek started the business from a shed situated behind The Royal Hotel, working for a short time in Le Pollet, then moving into a shop in Mill Street. Derek ran the business from Mill street for 25 years before returning to Le Pollet to open the shop you see today! Derek Birch and Son Jewellers is now owned and run by Mike Birch, Derek’s Son. The Family business maintains its roots specialising in bespoke and handmade items. Today the small team of jewellers can been seen from the “in shop “ workshop where they create unique handmade pieces of jewellery, set stones, repair old loved family pieces and reform and redesign jewellery bringing new life to old jewellery.
